shyea

Shiiiit! So I've been writing on my blog lately about my professional/career goals (environmental stuff) and one of my current academic interests has been looking at environmental politics in an anthropological perspective. In fact, I've been wanting to get into discourse analysis* of environmental stuff (especially policy) for a couple years now, but I've never had the opportunity to pursue it. SOOOO, long story short, one of my professors (a linguistic anthropologist) is going to work with me next semester on an independent study on that stuff!!! Hooray! He sounded pretty excited about the idea and even suggested that we should try to put together something really good and then I could submit it to TURF--the Temple Undergraduate Research Forum--wherein I'd have to defend my work in front of a panel and, if successful with my defense, I'd get mad props (probably somethin' else too, like a prize, but I just heard about the thing today).

Woo! Shit! Life's fuckin' swizzeet!

*discourse analysis is the analysis of how things are discussed.
